I hope everyone had a great time for Christmas. My family and I had a traditional Christmas get together on Christmas Eve with all the traditional foods and gift giving... as usual my niece, nephews, and my children got more than they needed. Christmas morning isn't as exciting as years gone by since my children are now in their upper teens and twenties. I miss putting out cookies and milk for Santa and the trips to the mall to sit on Santa's lap. My family got back together Christmas evening for a non-traditional meal of grilled steaks, baked potatoes, and salads then we played Domino's until late in the night. We all had great time being together!

Amanda and Cesar's Wedding - September 12, 2009

I had so much fun photographing Amanda and Cesar's wedding. They are a super sweet couple!

What I'm into:

Working on edits, albums, and orders... hoping to be caught up within the next few weeks. Doing a photo shoot at the New Canton Plantation Saturday afternoon with art director Bill Birdsong. Photographing for the Johnson City Mall on Sunday evening (Nov. 15th) capturing all the events of the Magical Night of Giving. Come on out, shop some, enjoy the entertainment, and look me up!

Tri-Cities Premier Bride Vendor Meeting

I had an awesome time this evening at the Tri-Cities Premier Bride vendor meeting. It was a pleasure to meet new vendors as well as see familiar ones. A special "thank you" goes out to Bill and Angela Birdsong for hosting the meeting at the New Canton Plantation. If you haven't checked out the video of the plantation you need to do so... it's amazingly beautiful and full of history. Also a big thank you goes out to the Courtyard Restaurant for the wonderful food they provided. The house was beautifully decorated throughout with Christmas decor provided by Flowers by Copper Creek... thanks Charles for helping to put me in the Christmas spirit.

JUST FOR FUN

Congratulations to the Surgoinsville Middle School Eagles for winning the football state championship in their division. And you're wondering what a wedding photographer is doing photographing a football game... well the truth is that my brother is the head coach and my nephew plays on the team. I must say that photographing action like this has given me a new appreciation for sports photographers.

I have been truly blessed with wonderful brides and grooms this year. I hope to keep in touch with them even though the wedding day is over.

I've just decided that I'm going to Nashville on Sunday to attend a seninar by Hanson Fong, a leading national photographer from California. I love to learn! I believe regardless of who you are and where you are in your career there is aways something new you can learn from others. Hopefully I'll pick up a few more tips and tricks!

Designing Storybook Albums

Well I've spent most of the weekend designing Fine Art Storybook Albums. This is a lot of fun considering I spent 17 years working as a graphic artist for a local Fortune 500 company. I've even designed yearbooks for area Elementary and Middle Schools and overseen the production/sell of the yearbooks. This gave me great pleasure knowing hundreds of students would be looking at my work and keeping it as a keepsake from their school years. As a photographer, when a bride orders a Storybook Album it thrills me because I know I'm going to get to personally design a keepsake. I look at each album as a piece of memorable history which will be passed down to future generations. Photography after all, is recording the present to be shared with the future. Jennifer and Chris' Wedding - June 25,2009

A great time was had by all who attended the wedding of Jennifer and Chris! Jennifer started out planning their wedding for a location here in the Tri-Cities but soon realized that she wasn't being true to her dreams of the perfect wedding. She started looking at websites of beach wedding planners but didn't know any of them and wasn't sure if they were trustworthy. I told her about Heather Kohn of Surfer Girl Chic Weddings in Savannah, Georgia and the rest is history. Jennifer and Chris were married on the beach in Tybee Island, Georgia with family and friends present. The setting made for some great photographic compositions and the laid back atomsphere put everyone at ease.

Lindsi and Steven's Wedding - June 26,2009

Lindsi and Steven's wedding was absolutely beautiful. The setting was at the Oaks Castle here in Johnson City and wedding planner Lisa Tolliver of Posh Productions made sure that every detail was attended to. Lindsi was a stunning bride, kind of like a Bridal Barbie doll, which made it easy to get gorgeous photos of her. And I had previously worked with Steven last summer when he was a groomsman in a friend's wedding so it was a pleasure to get to photograph his wedding.
